I didn't care at all for the writing style and the first person narrative. The bit I read was all forced quirkiness and contrived angst. I'm not going to try to finish.

Review also posted on TotalTeenFictionI discovered this book purely by chance whilst browsing my library's e-book catalogue. It sounded like my kind of book so I added it to my to-read list. Whilst a lot of people have shelved this book as a dystopian/post-apocalyptic book on Goodreads, it's really ...

Daisy is being shipped to England to live with an aunt and four cousins she’s never met because her “wicked” step-mother convinced Daisy’s father it was the best thing for her. While she isn’t thrilled with the new arrangement, as soon as she arrives, Daisy feels an overwhelming since of belonging ...

There are some major award-winning books I've read and shrugged off, and then there are award winners that absolutely knock me off my feet and throw me into fits of screaming delirious praise of just how GREAT they are. This book fits into the latter category, and to say more would spoil a great rea...

This is a really excellent little book told about the war that starts the end of the world, told from the point of view of a 14 year old girl. I found the writing, with its lack of punctuation, at first, difficult to read, but I really got into the story by the end. It has a bittersweet, unfinishe...

For such an odd story of limited length (194 pages), this one packs an emotional punch. The story of an anorexic girl who is sent to live with her aunt and cousins unravels in a well-crafted manner. There's some first-cousin-lovin' but it isn't as squicky as I feared.

A 1001 CBYMRBYGU.I don’t know exactly what I was expecting with this book, but it took me way off the track. I suppose I thought this would be an Angst-y Teen book, and it is that, filled with prerequisite (though not, in the book’s defense, of an in-your-face sort) Eating Disorders and Mean Step-Pa...

I have no idea what drew my interest to this book in the first place. Maybe it was the idea of the end of the world I happen to read quite often these days or something else. But it doesn't matter. I ordered the book and read it before everything else that is still sitting on my shelfs waiting to ge...
