The heroine is outspoken, practical, and named Elizabeth. There is comedy, banter, corsetry, and even a not-bad characterization of a kid.Really what's not to like?

Amusing and entertaining, but not a historical romance - it's just pretending to be one. Pure "wallpaper": American characters from the late 20th century (the book was first published in 1999) pretending to be inhabiting an English estate in the early 19th century.

I was looking for something light and fluffy and this hit the spot. 4.5 stars - .5 off because some of the clumsiness of the heroine was just kind of lame. A bit too much at the beginning of the story and I was rolling my eyes a bit. Book hits my faves list anyway.
