This is the story of how one couple travelled all over Europe for an entire month for less than $2,500 per person. When you factor in the airfare to get to Europe from the U.S., our trip was less than $3,000 per person. For fun, we documented in a journal what we did each day and how much everything cost. The journal entries expanded more and more over the course of the trip, eventually filling up an entire journal. This was the adventure of a lifetime.
We won’t be including that airfare though because fares today are higher than in 2009, and we are not covering the best way to find a great deal on airfare. Instead, you’ll find useful tips, tidbits, and what worked for us as we made our way across the continent. We started in California, flew to Germany, transferred to England, jumped over to Greece, traveled up Italy, hopped over to Spain, and finally bounced back to Germany before flying home to California.
