Imagine a world in which the science of robotics has become the driving force behind our economy. Not just a robot to vacuum your floor, a la The Roomba, but actual talking and thinking robots. In this short story collection Asimov has done just that. Much as in today's world where we have those who...

Whenever I am faced with any book by Asimov, I can never quite get out of my head the line from a song by Adam Green: 'Smoke crack like Isaac Asimov/Faux black delayed reaction of/Sure enough she's snuggling up to me/I've got to feed them facts'. Layering culture, sweet, awkward. The best thing ab...

This is a collection of short stories set up as if a reporter is interviewing a woman who has had a long career as a robot psychologist. It was nice to see a woman in a lead role in sci fi written in the 50s, since so much "old" science fiction can envision vastly different world but draws the line ...

~~Moved from GR~~ I, Robot by Isaac Asimov I, Robot is, in my opinion, a fundamental read for anyone interested in the emergence of modern scifi. The story itself is a sequence of loosely connected short stories written in 1950 that take place in a "future" world (where the future is the 1990's...

Intriguing look at the integration of machines into society. So far it appears robots aren't the future (computer networks are), but it's still rightfully considered a masterpiece.

This is a collection of 9 short stories published in 1950 framed and linked by an interview with Dr Susan Calvin, robot psychiatrist for US Robots and Mechanical Men. Dr. Calvin, a "frosty woman" is one of Asimov's strongest characters period, and one of the most memorable female characters in class...

"I've started reading my Asimov collection in chronological order and I just finished I, Robot. It's amazing how well it held up for me. He was my favorite when I was a kid. Of course that was before smartphones and 3-D printers. Asimov wasn't great at predicting how computers would evolve and in th...

Although not "literary fiction" with deep characters or incredible prose, these short stories made me think about ethics and humanity. Wonderful narration by Scott Brick for the audio version.

I must confess I never read this as a kid, though I read plenty of Asimov and other science fiction at the time. This book is essentially a collection of short stories, and the beginning of the Robot universe. These stories really make you think; the psychology of how robots treat humans often masks...
