My Ct has her class reading this book set. There are several books with in the set on how people survived this event with in lit circles. I would use this books in 4th grade not 3rd grade due to some of the figurative language.

Eh. Without being plot points I've encountered elsewhere, it felt already-done. It also felt written to a much easier level than most of the Battle of the Books books, so recommended for reluctant readers, because it whips along quite fast.Library book.
