In een van de weinige bewoonde huizen stuit de politie op een gezinsdrama aan. Vader Patrick is doodgestoken, twee kleine kinderen zijn gesmoord, en moeder Jennifer moet zwaargewond worden afgevoerd naar het ziekenhuis.
Het lijkt een droevige maar eenvoudige zaak: Pat is werkloos geworden, kan het leven niet meer aan, vermoordt zijn gezin en slaat de hand aan zichzelf.
