Second in the Alanna series. I was massively confused at the beginning because I had assumed that it would pick up immediately after the end of the first book. Nope, it started a year later. Despite my abiding love for Jon, I just couldn’t like this book very much. [Dec. 2008]
I am sorry, but if all Alanna is going to be doing for the next two books is jumping from one bed to another, I have had quite enough. I am pretty sure I am through with Tamora Pierce. The writing is not so brilliant, nor the stories so compelling as to make up for the smut that seems to be favored.
