Incarceron has one of the most fascinating worlds I've ever read about. A futuristic society that has chosen to mire itself in the past, this book often has the feel of a fantasy novel, but throw-away details of advanced technology assure the reader that this is, in fact, the future. And what a well...

Opening line: “Finn had been flung on his face and chained to the stone slabs of the transitway.”There is a prison called Incarceron which no one ever enters or leaves. But within that prison Finn can remember seeing stars. On the outside, Claudia, the daughter of Incarceron’s Warden, struggles in a...

The reader follows the story of Finn, a prisoner in Incarceron who doesn't seem to be like the other prisoners and Claudia, the wealthy, pampered, educated daughter of the Warden of Incarceron. The world is pieced together for th...

Incarceron is mad mix of science fiction, steampunk, fantasy and adventure. A thoroughly entertaining read that I had to read from start to finish with only a few breath in between. A YA novel that reads more like a Big Girl book, Incarceron had me biting my nails until the end. Not a perfect novel,...

Phenomenal world-building, sumptuous details, carefully attentive research, but for some reason I wasn't able to completely connect with the two main characters. I have high hopes for the sequel (SAPPHIQUE) though.

I've gotten far enough in to feel well and truly stuck. Unlike Finn and Claudia, I'm okay with that. The combination of future tech with Renn Faire style appeals mightily.***Oh, wow. Once I got past the set up things started moving briskly and tightly twisting. There's much to love in the model ...
