Turner has a firm grasp on the matter of fact style that makes fairy tales so delicious. Skip the first story when you first read. In fact, go straight to Aunt Charlotte and the NGA Portraits, my favourite.
This is a short book with only seven stories, all of them pretty lightweight and aimed at a pre teen/early teen audience. But they are well written and charming, and for what it is its lovely. I think Megan Whalen Turner has a great ear for language and these stories are lighthearted and funny. I ...
