I'm a fantasy reader - I don't read much about "real life," but I find Krakauer's work engrossing. On its own, the plight of climbers stranded on Everest is exciting and frightening, but there is also the very human side, from greed through to heartbreaking loss. This one was a page turner.

An amazing story of human triumph. The truly magnificent writing makes the reader feel as if he/she is part of the group on the mountain. Definitely a "must read" for anyone curious about the joys and perils of hiking the world's highest mountain.
