Another amazing book from Iris Murdoch. She managed once more to bring up some questions about types of behaviour in this life, in a very londonese-like spirit, gently uncovering mysteries of human nature.

As some of the critics say, Iris Murdoch has a very powerful way in writing. She's not afraid to make some afirmations about certain things in life. I really, really enjoyed the description in this book. Especially the descripton of people, it's so accurate, I couldn't believe it! The guilt, the env...

Even though this was written as Murdoch's light was fading, it's still better than most of today's author's writing under the heading literary fiction. Flawed, occasionally brilliant. Perhaps not a fitting epitaph, but deserves a place on the shelf.

My favourite Murdoch. The weaknesses and hypocrisies of a group of well-to-do Londoners are dissected with painful precision.

One of Murdoch's best. Subtle, witty, profound, moving.

I liked the premise of the book - a super-scientist conducting social experiments on unsuspecting, gullible couples and siblings to reveal how our hidden desires, insecurities, needs, perceptions of self drive our relationships, and not real, true love. But I did get bogged down in parts - couldnt t...

Despite the consistently excellent writing style, Iris Murdoch's protagonist in Under The Net is an unsympathetic character that I found tedious. This is the same issue I had with the recently read A Confederacy of Dunces. The only interesting point I derived from a comparison of these two books is ...

Truth be told, I was scared of the book. Scared of its length, scared I might not like it enough to finish it (I'm very frustrated when I can't finish books - I always feel it's my fault).Thank goodness Murdoch really knows how to write, I actually loved reading "The Bell" a couple of years ago and...
