3+ stars. A good read with a hefty dose of angst. I didn't really understand the heroine and her motives (both present day and 10 years ago), so she really annoyed me for about the first half to two-thirds of the book, which is how long it took to get the FULL story of her background in all its gory...
The pace of this historical romance was so slow and heroine had secrets I thought would never get revealed. I started skimming pretty early only reading the dialogue. Aiden happens across an old love he thought dead but Kate doesn't want to reconnect.
I usually love Dahl's books, but this one just didn't click for me. I didn't particularly like the heroine (I did admire her determination, though), and and I wish she had been honest with the hero earlier.
