2.0 J is for Jokes (and unfunny ones at that)
Done for Sockpoppet's 2014 Reading Challenge, J is for Jokes I love Yahtzee Croshaw and I love his first book, Mogworld. But Jam felt like an extremely long joke, and hours after I finished reading it, I'm still waiting for the punchline. Maybe I'm just not being ironic enough.

I wish I didn't feel so "eh" about this book, but I think that's a pretty fair way of stating it, because it kind of puttered listlessly to an end in the same way that I'm puttering listlessly in this textbox. I'm not unfamiliar with the idea of populating a story with irritating or stupid character...

I really liked it. Interesting premise, Australian setting and humorous writing. I do wish the protagonist had been a bit less spineless and that the ending had flushed out a bit more... Maybe we'll get a sequel, I'd definitely read it.
