i wish i could say i liked this more, but jamaica inn is too conventional a du maurier for my tastes: too much of a bodice-ripping gothic yarn. i like her when she's weirder, and creepier. this was too on the nose: i knew who the master criminal was immediately, and was annoyed at the ending.
