I was in the mood for a comfort read, and so picked up the first Mitford book for a reread. It's been 8 years since I read this series last, and I had forgotten how amazingly feel-good it is. Visiting Mitford is like visiting a group of old friends whom you haven't seen in years, but whom you know w...

I Have really enjoyed Jan Karon's books for her interesting characters, uplifting message, and sense of fun and humor. It was short - more a novella than a novel - but since I already knew all the characters, it didn't really matter. Also, I'm a sucker for romance. Always have been, probabl...

The last book in the Mitford series. Some say the best, but I'm not quite sure I'd agree there... quite up to her regular standards though. Knowing it's the last book, I'd expected a more 'finished' feel to it... as it is, she could easily decide to write an 8th book in the series, if the desire str...

Not as good as the other Mitford books, as there's not much of a plot in this one. Still, it's got practically the same atmosphere as the others, and puts on in a nice, Christmasy mood.
