When Jane Eyre was originally published, it was called Jane Eyre: An Autobiography edited by Currer Bell (Charlotte Brontë’s pen-name), which in itself is a fascinating insight into this classic novel. The idea Charlotte Brontë wanted this to be viewed as an autobiography implies this is more of a s...

I grew up in Europe, (not the UK), so I was never forced to read the great classics in school or taught their significance, only achieving a reluctant enjoyment in the process. However, I wanted to see what was considered feminism in that time and how that translated to this day for someone who was ...

This was a nice surprise, particularly after struggling through Pride and Prejudice a few weeks ago. I loved the ending, even though it was a bit predictable - it was cute and managed to effectively tie up all loose ends (which is always a plus for me!). Full review to be posted shortly.

It was a haunting movie and I was thrilled a few years later, early high school, to find the book and read it. Needless to say, the book cont...

I read this as a "buddy read" with a friend of mine. It was her pick, but it was also something that had been on my to-read list for quite a while, so I was glad to finally have the chance to read it. Normally, I don't do very in-depth reviews for classics, because it's hard to review something that...

Jane Eyre is one of those books that I can talk about for hours on end, but whenever I try to write a review on it I get stuck. Let's give this another go.Jane is taken in by her aunt after her parents died. Originally it was her uncle who had claimed her but before he died as well he asked his wife...

Wow what a beautiful story :) I LOVED it. Jane's character is so interesting, and her relationship with Mr. Rochester is just fantastic. Some parts did drag on, but overall it is a wonderful classic. I really liked reading Jane's thoughts and her observations, she is really a wonderful character.
