To call this Young Adult will limit the audience, I think. This was fantastic, and so very different from anything else I've read this year. The Returned is a very different book from what I'd usually pick up, but I was intrigued when I read the premise. This book wonderfully explores what would happ...

I got this free for my kindle in ebook and audible audiobook format.I found out about the three prequel short stories after I had started the main book; which I'll admit I'm struggling to finish.I feel that Jason Mott's writing is very compelling but also a bit exhausting in its emotional intensity....

What if the ones you loved and lost came back? What to feel, how to react, what to do? There is no simple answer, and this isn`t a simple book. Poetry in prose about life and death. It`s more like philosophy than thriller: slow paced and without much fighting and blood. Some are happy, some are angr...

These are interesting questions that are addressed in this novel. Its premise sounded to me like the perfect set up to medita...

For the first time ever, I’m giving a book I DNF three stars. This is not a bad book, it’s well written and on many levels, it’s a fascinating read. But…meh. I guess it’s just not really for me. This book is, at its heart, a character study. The thing is I couldn’t really bring myself to care about ...

Anyone who goes into Jason Mott's THE RETURNED expecting zombies, or a story typical of that subgenre, will be sorely disappointed. Nor would I call it a horror novel. What's here instead, is a beautifully told drama which just so happens to feature as characters people who've come back from the dea...

Underwhelmed by the plot as it's been touched upon by other writers such as John Ajvide Lindqvist and TV series such as Les Revenants as well as the american TV series 1400 (tangentially since those people were captured by aliens but they did return) so I was expecting a lot more but in the end I ha...
