Jay Stringer was born in 1980, and he's not dead yet.He was raised in the Black Country, in England, but now calls Glasgow home, and his loyalties are divided. Jay is dyslexic, and came to the written word as a second language, via comic books, music, and comedy. As a child, he spent his time dreaming of living in the New York of Daredevil comics and crime fiction, but as an adult he's channelled those dreams into fiction of his own. Jay writes hard boiled crime stories, dark comedies, and social fiction. His heart beats for the outsider, and for people without a voice. He's coined the term "social pulp fiction" to describe his style. You can catch him at Twitter under @JayStringer.

Sometimes you can sense a shitty day is on the way. I liked to give them levels—scores out of ten. The game was to guess at the start what level of shite the day would achieve. I’d got pretty good at it. I judged I was at the beginning of a seven. Maybe I’d be able to get it down to a six if I went ...

Inside the front door of the building, I checked the directory, looking to see which floor the firm was on, only to find that they used all of it. The recession hadn’t reached this far up the street. The reception area was decorated in muted shades of black and tan. Anything that didn’t share that c...

How To Kill Friends And Implicate People (Sam Ireland Mysteries #2) by Jay Stringer is about Fergus Fletcher, a hitman and Sam Ireland, a part-time bike messenger and private investigator. It's a murderous love story with lots of twists and turns. I gave it four stars. The beginning was a bit of...
