Ack! Sad, sad ending. Possibly unnecessarily sad. I'm hurt and confused.OK-- so, Jean Craighead George-- author of classics such as My Side of the Mountain and Julie of the Wolves. Unimpeachably awesome.I brought this along on a backpacking trip because my current book must weigh 5 pounds, so this o...

A fascinating idea: that a girl would live with wolves rather than agree to a repulsive marriage to an unsuitable boy plays out in this book. The wolf section, in which Julie learns to live like a wolf (and, one could argue, she'd be an excellent naturalist) is easily this book's most interesting. F...

An inspiring story about a boy who helped with the hatching of an eaglet at a time when bald eagles were near extinction.

From the strong beginning with Balto's story, through the mysterious White Mustang and the three lost whales and Sugar the cat who finds her family after they leave her behind- all these very short, ver...

Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George is one of the books I chose to review for banned books week. It is often challenged for violence and being unsuited to its intended age group. It is #32 on the ALA most challenged of the 1990s list.Y’all, I thought the plot of Julie of the Wolves was fasc...

I really liked this story though it was rather childish. I liked Miyax's (Julie's) interaction with the wolves and how she learned their behaviors and how to fit into the pack. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series to find out what Julie and her wolves do next.
