My almost 7 year old daughter has been begging to read Harry Potter, but being only 6, I felt that the subject matter was a bit dark for her just yet. We were both delighted to discover The Worst Witch! Witch-in-training Mildred is an adorable character, and the setting, Miss Cackle's Academy, is si...

Short review:I heard about this series for a long time, but I could never find the books in English here. Stupid libraries. :( So I found them elsewhere, and I am really happy that I got a chance to read them. This book is the first one, and where everything starts. We meet Mildred who is very bad at...

Not the best book in the series, I was actually quite bored throughout the book.It was just all the same. Ethel hating Mildred, being mean to her at every opportunity. Miss Hardbroom who doesn't have any faith left in Mildred and just hopes she will fail. And then Mildred, she saves the day again......

Like all my favourite children's literature, this book is squarely on the side of the outcast. Disorganised, accident-prone witch Mildred and her plump, bespectacled friend Maud are smart, kind and generally awesome. My own mild dyspraxia, which vanished when I was about 14, made Mildred an especial...

As I was growing up, the Worst Witch books were a firm favourite with me, my sisters and my friends. And I'm sure that they too will want to read this. I really REALLY enjoyed this. It's in the same style and just as easily accessible as the earlier books, but you know reading it, right from the sta...

This gets 5 stars because it's one of my oldest son's favorite books, this one held his interest longer than any other book, and he choose to take it to school twice, on two different years, as a favorite book! I have to say that I didn't get sick of reading it to them as well!

Mildred is a witch but she is not very good at it. In the end however she's able to save the whole school from the evil witches' attack. The book is a nice quick read but also very predictable. It's a bit of a Harry Potter version for younger kids, but mothing I enjoyed immensely.

One of the many Easter eggs in Kraken. Most recruits at the magical police squad's training center refer to it as "Hogwarts". But a few call it "Miss Cackle's" and look superior when the others don't get the reference.

A 1001 CBYMRBYGU. At Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches, there are many witches, but no one is as terrible at witchcraft than Mildred. She goofs up every spell she attempts. Poor Mildred is always in trouble.…the girls marched up in single file to receive their kittens. Mildred was the last of all, a...

I’d believe the whole story more had the tale been told by Mrs. Bear. After all, Mr. Bear can find peace and quiet at work, right? The story follows Mr. Bear seeking that all-elusive peace at his home. When he finally finds a quiet spot and he is able to sleep, he is abruptly awakened; it’s morning.
