I was born in 1955 in the coal mining community of Cannock Staffordshire at a very young age. Leaving school at 15 with a huge sigh from my teachers and nothing else, I came through odd jobs and being a band roadie, to being 18 and hospitalisations for a year due to my genetic Neuro-muscular condition Charcot Marie Tooth disease which at the time was misdiagnosed as a congenital bone deformity At 19 I was told I would never walk properly again. I ignored the advice and moving to Glasgow got into Nursing for a while, walking the wards, until dropping patients was considered inappropriate. I had to eat so, I sort of drifted back into show biz and, can't sing , can't dance and can't tell jokes, apart from being a poor backstage guy the only options I knew something about were magic or hypnosis. Hypnotists earn more. Since the 80's I've become known to audiences worldwide for my work in Stage Hypnosis and as things have turned out, also in Personal performance and development coaching. I love them both.At the turn of the century I went on to work ever more in Training all aspects of Hypnosis and Subconscious success, co-founding the world renowned Academy of Hypnotic Arts with my partner Jane Bregazzi, and developing several mind methods such as Hypnotic Symbolism, Super Suggestion, PSi Profiling and the MIND method itself. I now Speak, Write and Teach. My condition, CMT has been made worse by fractures, a double heart attack and fighting for my life against a secondary infection after heart surgery, although it didn't feel that way at the time. It never feels like a fight, just something you have to do. I now use a wheelchair outside which isn't as bad as it sounds. It's a fantastic free parking strategy and gets me two for one seats in most theatres! As The Hypnotist I am considered by many as a maverick and I've been called opinionated, clever, generous, genius and the Gordon Ramsay of hypnosis. I like all of them. "Jonathan Chase is innovative, funny and in his products and writing and has guided and trained some of the hypnosis art's brightest stars, and thousands of people to their own success." Jane Bregazzi
