Amazing book. I really enjoyed the writing style and the non- linear story line. The shift between tragic comedy and drama was excellent. Wish I had read this in high school.

just glad this wasn't required reading for me in high school...as an adult, I have no qualms abandoning a book.

I expected to like this book. I really wanted to like this book. I lost interest a few hours into the audiobook, so I picked up a bound copy from the library, as some books simply don’t translate well to audio, especially those with a large cast of characters and non-linear storylines. There were ma...

I didn't enjoy reading this - which I expected as it is a book about the war. But I was also bored and irritated. Which I didn't expect. Too many characters, too many small stories and anecdotes within the plot. Not enough to hold my interest. And I still compare every book about the war to ...

I really could not get into a groove with this book. The circular, disjointed way the story was told frustrated me to the point that I gave up 2/3 of the way through. It was intentionally written that way, of course, but since I didn't have to read this, I opted out.Even though I didn't enjoy read...

It's delightfully absurd, and even though I was expecting it to be funny, the humor surpassed my expectations. A great tale if you lov...

7/4 - So far I've only read the introduction by Howard Jacobson and the preface by Heller himself (I enjoyed those two 'chapters' a lot, Heller's description of his attempts to get Catch-22 published were quite amusing) and a few reviews of it here. I am now feeling scared and unsure about the succ...

A high school re-read. An absolutely amazing book - I had remembered it as shorter, less complex, funnier. I had forgotten all about the style - those many, many, many adjectives! I remembered the absurdity - but had forgotten the surrealism and the grotesque. I had forgotten that it was written i...
There's more to life than reading, but it's a good place to start

For the most part, this book was absolutely ridiculous. Ridiculous characters, ridiculous situations, ridiculous names (colonel Korn, anyone?).I get the feeling this book had really shocking content when it was written, but reading it in this century, it's pretty pedestrian.Anyways, the book is very...
