JUDAS GOAT is 1950-1970's America through a funhouse mirror, darkly. It's a story born of the time when cultural and psychic fault lines threatened to split the country in two. Straddling these fault lines is Albert Orff, an American oddity. Outwardly, JUDAS GOAT tells the story of his Midwestern childhood and his rise and fall as a "shock rock" star of modest magnitude, a homegrown Ziggy Stardust with a penitential bent. Inwardly, that story lays bare the survival into modern times of the most primitive human impulses, and the rituals we create to act them out. It's a saga, and has all the requisite elements of sagas: miraculous births, portents, strange and untimely deaths, holy fools and cosmic villains, devils and angels, lust, envy, friendship, betrayal, a murder, a trial, an exile, and a redemption, all played out on a canvas that stretches across the American Heartland and very nearly to the South Pole.
