This is a picture book about Alexander who is having the absolute worst day ever! I used to love when Grandot read me books from this series. According to Fountas & Pinnell's guidelines, I would put this book on a level I. This is because it has characteristics matching other books in this level. Fo...

I would read this aloud in a 3rd grade classroom (it can be used in any grade level) and use Alexander's story to show that we all have bad days. How we react to those bad days is the most important lesson. I would then have ch...

I love Alexander. I always enjoyed hearing this story, and when I learned to read, it was one I picked continuously for independent reading. Alexander is just having a bad day. Nothing is going well for him. To us adults, lots of minor things are just piling up to create a bad day. To Alexander,...

This book is a good read for 3rd graders. I think that it would be good to use when discussing feelings or hard situations. It teaches kids that not everything goes right everyday.

For use with 2nd or 1st graders and i would use it primarily to teach a unit on behavior and how they can turn anything ar...
