I probably should have just stuck to the movie, the book was just OK. I found Julie to be self-absorbed and whiny and just not all that likable to be honest. Sure there were funny parts, but overall a disappointing read for me...

Yet another of those delightful non-fictional books that reads like fiction. When I saw the trailer for the movie, I knew I wanted watch it, and when I heard it was based on a book (or two actually, but I haven't found the other one yet) I had to read it first. And it was well worth it. The book is u...

I surprised myself with how much I liked this book. Well, not the book, in particular, but the author. I liked her sense of humor, her way of looking at things and (for the most part) her style of writing. She is lively and interesting and very capable of keeping me reading. The story is very simple....

"The thing you learn with Potato Parmentier is that "simple" is not exactly the same as "easy." Loved it!

I really, really tried to read this book, but I just couldn't finish it. It's been recommended to me many times by people who know that I like to cook, I love to eat, and I've always kind of heroine-worshiped Julia Child (she's so wonderful!).But I just couldn't get into this book. Here's why I thin...

i don't know if I'll finish this. Julie Powell is already annoying me, and I'm only on page 40.

Ok, I really liked Julie's humor and some of her stories, but I returned this book unfinished as well. Her language was really bad. I'm sad!

This intrigued me in the original hardcover, but since I only buy books in paperback I've been waiting to read it. It's a lot of fun to read, more of a "memoir with food" than actual food writing...and I hadn't realized that a much of it came from a blog she was keeping during the course of the "Jul...
