Fabulously researched with a wealth of information about GRL, her life *and* the times she lived. A bibliography I would be proud of collecting. The loss of the fifth star is due to the disjointed story line and unanswered questions. I almost always prefer a linear storyline, I do understand what the...

Won through Goodreads.Well, my phone ate my review, so let's try again.I didn't really care for this. I really enjoyed Abbott's first book, so I had high hopes. This is another really good book about Chicago's history and some incredibly strong women in the early 20th century.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC & must confess I couldn't put it down! This has always been one of my favorite musicals and its nice to learn where the facts and the fictions intertwine.

The subject matter was very interesting and Abbott did a great job delving into Gypsy Rose Lee's background. However, I did not enjoy the timeline of the book. I much prefer biographies that follow a chronological timeline. Also, I think there were too many chapters devoted to the Minsky brothers...
