Katherine Gallagher is a widely-published Australian poet resident in North London since 1979. During the 1970s, she lived in Paris teaching English. She has five full-length poetry collections, most recently Carnival Edge: New & Selected Poems (Arc Publications, 2010) - 'its natural territory the exotic and unknown, the fringe and carnivalesque,' Jane Holland, Poetry Review. She also translates from French.Winner of the Warana Poetry Prize and a Society of Authors' Foundation Grant, Gallagher has been shortlisted or a runner-up in various awards. William Wilde, editor of Australian Poets & Their Works: A Reader's Guide. (OUP,1996).said of her poetry: Sensitive, imaginative and at ease in either a colloquial or more formal style, Gallagher is especially impressive when she writes of those close to her or of the general human condition where loss, grief, or sorrow are conveyed with eloquence and compassion. Born in Australia, Katherine Gallagher has lived in North London since 1979. During the 1970s, she lived in Paris where she met her husband Bernard Londeix. In 1986, her collection Passengers to the City (Hale & Iremonger, 1985) was shortlisted for the John Bray National Award. In 1989, Forest Books published her second full collection, Fish-Rings on Water. In 1994, Forest Books published her translation of Jean-Jacques Celly's Le Somnambule aux Yeux d'Argile - The Sleepwalker with Eyes of Clay..Gallagher has read her poetry at universities, festivals and poetry venues in Europe and Australia.
