Mildly interesting but derivative, though arguably a better fit for Black's talents than the Spiderwick Chronicles. In this case, the story is made more palatable by the sepulchral, if occasionally awkward, artwork of Ted Naifeh.

The Possum read it one day, then handed it to me. Good graphic novel. Nice use of the creepier faeries. Rue looks to me like Claire Danes from MY SO CALLED LIFE days, only with dark hair.I expect I'll read all of this they publish.

I really enjoy Holly Black's writing style and this one didn't disappoint. This is the first graphic novel I have read and it was nice for a change. It did take me longer to read than I would have thought since I was looking at the detail in the pictures. I guess a picture is worth a thousand words....
