* Suspense Thriller Short StoryIt was the first day of Spring Break. There was no homework and no deadlines. It was a time to sleep in, kick back, and relax. With blue skies and warm temperatures, it was the perfect day to be home alone. Sonny Mulroney was a good guy by all accounts. But he was labeled by the other seniors at school as a science geek. His few good friends thought that he was a smart guy with a funny sense of humor. He began his vacation by opening yesterday's emails. Then he got the shock of his young life. He was being threatened again by two high school bullies.The lethal email read, "We put poison in your Kool-Aid. You have three days to live, Sucker."The frantic teen snatched up his cell phone to reach out to the people of authority in his life. First he called his parents at work. As always, they told him to ignore the stupid prank. Sonny even tried to talk with the priest at church, but the line was busy. He slammed the phone down on the desk and then the top half of the fragile screen shattered. Everyone passed the buck, but no one believed his wild accusation. Sonny tried to calm down as he leaned back in his chair.Then the insidious symptoms of the fabled poisoning manifested. He broke out with a debilitating fever. His heart began to beat rapidly. The edges of his vision suddenly darkened. Sonny quickly called 911 for help. Then the battery on his phone died.
