The world of Kalea is a world dominated by its three great seas. The people of Kalea, after a devastating war, choose to change their forms and return to the warm waters of their world. But, the ancient ways of war followed them back into the seas. Two of the great powers, the Lalus and the Dardic, once again found themselves at war. Now they must fight in the waters of the Klari Sea.
Titias, a free trader from the Meeli tribe, finds every man, woman, and child of the Urea tribe dead. Their bodies lay scattered about the underwater fortress of Rimridge. The Merman knows he must somehow return to the Meeli tribe and call for a gathering of the nine remaining tribes of Lalus. Titias has little doubt that their ancient enemies, the Dardics, have returned to the Klari Sea.
The free trader finds, upon his return to the Meeli tribe, that the headmaster of the tribe will not listen to what he has to say. Only his adopted father, the Mage Turtur, will listen to his warnings. The Mage sends Titias out to find the help his people need in order to defeat the Dardics. Titias finally finds the help he needs in a great, domed city left from the time of the ancient Kaleans. Within this he finds a missing tribe of Lalus. But, the new tribe is being held in slavery by a group of remaining surface people, the Borilis. Titias, and his new friends, must find a way to defeat the Borilis and their beasts. They must then return to the waters of the Klari Sea and save the rest of the Lalus people.
