Dearly Departed.hmmm. I couldnt even finish this book. I read 3 chapters and just couldnt go any further. 1. This book is WAY out of my norm. I dont like scifi. I dont even watch Scifi movies. But I had liked twilight so I figured maybe I would try another scifi and this one was recommended.2. I don...
Blue Ribbon Rating: 3 out of 5Original Review LinkEver since the news that zombies exist was revealed, the people of New Victoria have been divided on whether or not the undead should be allowed to live. Nora Dearly falls into the zombie supporter camp — which wouldn’t be a surprise even if the lov...
A punky one of a kind cocktail of zombies, steampunk, and Victorian propriety. The story itself bounces in a state of chaos between the living and undead, teen drama and grownup gunfights, historical and futuristic, and utopia and dystopia. You'll love the good zombies with their metal plated faces,...
I love Bram and Nora. They are one of the best couples I have ever read about.Unlike other books the author did not introduce any relationship problems in this sequel.I feel somewhat sorry for Michael and Vesperentine.
Zombies in a modern Renaissance Era? Yes, please! I had amazingly high hopes for this book since the first one exceeded what I thought it would be. Sadly, this book did not meet them. I thought the book was told from way too many perspectives. I would have liked to have just Bram and Nora's perspect...
I had one huge issue with the book. The book is written in first person AND there are shifting narrators (5 of them, if I recall correctly) throughout the book. Shifting narrators don't bother me when they are in the third person, but the first person writing made it a bit jarring to switch from cha...
So, second zombie book ever. Loved it.I thought the story was great. I liked the multiple POV's, I love that in a book. I liked seeing how Bram felt or thought, not just Nora. The take on Zombie's was awesome, I liked the science behind it. I also loved that they weren't all evil. The romance betwee...
I admit, it took me a while to get into Dearly, Departed properly - the infodumps in the beginning were particularly heavy going, although with this sort of rather different worldbuilding (22nd century, basically post-apocalyptic, steampunk/New Victorian world, with zombies), it was both somewhat ju...
The book had some fantastic one liners, and some really need steampunk integration, but 60-70% of the book I simply could not stand. Pretty much every "authority" figure in the book was a fanatical zealot and/or overbearing idiot, and ultimately made parts of the book rather unenjoyable.
