This was a sweet story, occasionally I felt a little old for it but as the story unfolded it just caught me. I have no idea how I put it onto my wishlist or who recommended it to me, but I'm glad I found it.The story unfolds as Georges (the S is silent as he's named after his parent's favourite Art...

This is a short, quick, adolescent book. The tone was good, something about it reminded me of Judy Blume's Fudge and Superfudge. Georges is simultaneously playing two games of pretend without actually admitting that he is playing either (although he probably doesn't realize what he is doing with t...

I enjoyed this story, perhaps identifying with the main character too much. When the bullying came out and his dad offered to solve the problem, he had the guts to try his own solution, and that rocked. It took me fully 3/4 of the book to become even modestly engaged with the characters. I get the messages, I liked the writing, but it struck me as, well, as boring as The Westing Game. ...

4.5/5 StarsRebecca Stead's MG book Liar & Spy is one of those books that I went into expecting one thing and got something completely different; which, in this case, is a very good thing. What I got was an utterly charming read with surprising poignancy.Middle-schooler Georges (the s is silent) has ...

Originally reviewed here. Why I Read It: I really enjoyed Rebecca Stead's sophomore novel When You Reach Me, which I read last year. As soon as this was released I sign it out of the bookstore I work at. Spoiler-free review ahead. This book has quite a few similarities to When You Reach Me: we have an...
