I found myself skimming as the lead characters kept analyzing the same stuff over and over again and abandoned the whole endeavor alto...

For this genre, this story actually was closer to a 4, I think. I loved the way William the Conqueror was written in. He was played by Sean Bean inside my head. Heh. There were a few things that irked me, but not enough to mention or ruin the book for me. So, all in all, a good read. Well done.

I had read "Laird of the Mist" by Paula Quinn in the past and I loved that one. Lord of Desire didn't work for me as much. What bothered me the most was the irrational drooling of the Hero after a women that betrayed him again and again. Yet all the way at the almost end of the novel, he still drool...
