God, those children are creepy. So much for my faith in humanity.

This book is awesome. One of my absolute favourite books—a haunting display of how easily humans can revert to savages in extreme circumstances. Another book every teenager should read.

This book is one of those rare classics that a person like me, can read and understand. I'm not a fan of the genre but Lord Of The Flies stand out! I read it once when I was in school, but I never quite understood it with the clarity that I do now. This book serves as a meditation on two extreme sid...

A hard book to rate...although it is well written and the content gets unpleasantly graphic and awkward. Its very disturbing and devastating and this novel is very powerful. This book reveals the darkness of mankind and the value of civilization.

We read A Tale of Two Cities and Lord of the Flies over the summer, and I absolutely could not stand (or understand) ATTC, and LOTF was not much better. We started off the year with Beowulf, which was decent but a little to predictable for my ...

3.5 starsOne of my favorite narrative themes is the true nature of society and its corruption and breakdown when facing trauma and change. Lord of the Flies played a big part in inspiring and popularizing this theme in fiction. It's classic plot is one of my favorites but I found the writing to be a ...

I discovered this book right after finishing my English literature class, which was a shame, as it would have fit perfectly in with the other books (it was the period of my growing interest in Dystopian literature, and I felt it would have been in its place with 1984, Brave New World and Fahrenheit ...

This is a good book. It is not, however, a great book. It aspires to be. It even purports to be. It does not quite get there. i was very impressed with this book when I read it in high school. But that was 25 years ago, and reading it now, I don't find it as compelling. I have read so many b...
