I'll remember details about these characters long after I've forgotten everything about the plot. And in the end, it's those little pieces of detail that make the characters real and loveable.
I found it hard to get into this book at first but glad I kept reading! I have a soft spot for 'children in crisis' and am always happy when things seem to turn around. I'm not really sure what to think of this book...it took me a while to get through, because I just wasn't feeling it. And I felt that it wrapped up a little too nicely in the end, as well. But, it was a decent read, I guess...definitely not something I looooved, it was just OK.
I was intrigued by this one, chick lit written by a Ph.D in creative writing. The plot was too predictable and de los Santos was trying too hard to be clever and coy in her dialogue. It was good for a quick read, but it didn't resonate any further than that.
