More like 3 1/2 stars. This is a period of the celebrated architect's life before he became "Frank Lloyd Wright". His love and life with Mamah Borthwick, the few years they spent together (1909-1914) are not that well known or documented except for the press articles about the scandal of her leaving...

NO SPOILERS!!!If you do no know how the affair between Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick ends up - well then you absolutely must read this book. That is assuming you are inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture and design. I was in the blue. I had no idea what happened. Think if I hadn't r...

Frank and Mamah were 2 selfish people who happened to find each other. The blatant disregard for their families took most of the joy out of reading this. However, I also think Horan is an amazing writer; I liked her different points of view of the different characters, and her usage of wording place...

This is the story of Mamah Borthwick Cheney, the woman who was Frank Lloyd Wright's lover - the woman he left his wife and family for which caused a scandal that rocked not only Chicago's society, but also the world of architecture. Finished. This is a must read! I eagerly await Horan's next book. I highly recommend reading Drennan's non-fictional [book:Death in a Prairie House: Frank Lloyd Wright and the Taliesin Murders] concomitantly. It's not the best written, but provides fascinating detail to supplement Horan's work.This...

I fell in too far with this one. I identified so intensely with Mamah that I was unable to brace myself for the tragedy that I knew was coming. The writing is good. The story is compelling and as close to historically accurate as one could ask, given the paucity of historical data on Mamah Cheney. T...

wow...i...uh...i am sort of bewildered after finishing loving frank. a tragedy to be sure, but maybe not for the reasons i originally thought. it seems as though it would be easy to judge mamah for leaving her children, but as with many things in life, it's not as clear cut as that. I was alternat...
