I liked it.I magically know all of the characters names, was actually interested in the intrigue, wasn't pissed off there was no UST (or anything awkwardly sexual at all in this book) between two characters that I believe will eventually get together, AND I actually know the characters' names (Alec,...
I hadn't picked this one up because I thought I had already read it, but this description doesn't sound familiar, especially not being set in the same world as Bone Doll's Twin. Now I think I had it mixed up with Shadowrun. I'll have to see if I can find it again.
Alec of Kerry is a teenage orphan stuck in a dungeon on trumped up charges of spying. He's worried that he's going to be killed when a mysterious stranger is thrown into the dungeon with him, and proceeds to not only free himself from the shackles, but takes Alec along as well. I loved this first installment. The only thing I can say prevented me from giving 5 stars, is I found the world building too condensed in some areas and it bored me. That being said, I will certainly finish this series. I feel there could be a beautiful romance between Alec and Seregil.

Lovely! Why did I wait so long to read this? It was a very, very enjoyable tale with engaging characters set in a familiar yet unique world filled with adventures. There was a real 'getting to know you' vibe about the book, which is natural, I suppose, seeing as it's the first in a series. :) I...
It was an amazing read. I enjoyed the feel of the story, the characters, the wonders of the world and the adventures they embarked on. I was a little put off by the somewhat long descriptions (at least until I realised this was actually one of 5 - if not more - books and thus the careful detailing s...
