Anastasia is spending the summer holidays at the stables owned by her Aunt Tess and her dog Paddy the Cocker Spaniel. She is given Maidstone Mischief, a beautiful 17 hand Dark Bay. Anastasia has a friend, Beth who also has a horse, Beauty. The two girls ride their horses every day and at night, sleep in a tent in the garden. In this adventure, dogs are missing, dognapped.
