The Marines and Auxiliary Volunteers of the Decima Mas Flotilla of the Italian Social Republic have been immortalised on old black-and-white film.
Faces, emotions and expressions tend to yellow over time, yet they cannot suppress the pride of all those valiant soldiers who,
in the aftermath of the tragic events of September 1943, opted for the path of Honour, while being fully aware that the War was lost.
The photographs featured in this volume have been taken from original archives hitherto preserved in strongboxes or private collections.
Our intention is to reproduce them, with the primary intent of handing them down to posterity, lest the ravages of time permanently envelop them and obliterate their memory,
along with their priceless testimony of dedication, heroism and self-sacrifice.
This volume is a sequel to the previous publication entitled “Per l’Onore - La Decima Flottiglia Mas e la sua propaganda 1943-1945”,
in which the author had presented a selection of propaganda material dating from 1943 up until the end of World War II.
Italian and English parallel texts; over 200 color and black&white illustrations, many of which unpublished.
