A look at what happens to human bodies after we die. It was interesting, but for me it bore almost no resemblance to my personal experience or belief system. My major experience of death had nothing to do with either the funeral home industry or the other scenarios Roach lays out. It was gentle; rel...
I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.Brogen is a teenage girl who is an empath and still in high school. Brogen has had a hard time of dealing with being an empath as her abilities are very strong. But she is a lucky girl having a mom that is an empath too and has...
I don't read a whole lot of non-fiction. What little I do read is usually in the celebrity biography genre. But for my Eclectic Reader Challenge, I needed to read something qualifying as Micro history. I didn't even know what that was, but the internet was very helpful in clearing up my confusion. G...
Well... this the first time I've read anything like this, and I must say, it fascinated me. I always thought I should have been a scientist... although I don't know if I would have been able to bring myself to finger a monkey for science!

I found this book really interesting but also a bit to irreverent for my tastes. Which speaking of taste, this book uses a fair amount of food analogies and phrases that are food based which is not something I really want to think about when also thinking about dead people. But that's just me.
This book was a fascinating read, first is finding out that attempting to find the weight of a soul was actually considered scientific. Then the various "studies" to prove or debunk the spirit world or figure out when a soul entered the fetus. (after 14 days because before then you could have iden...
Friends and family know that I have a weird interest in bizarre medical history. I've been known to tell disgusting stories at meals or in meetings. You know, wherever appropriate. It's a pity I live alone because I would have loved to share all the tidbits I picked up while reading Mary Roach's Gul...
Oh my, what an interesting book! I enjoyed the way it was written (serious, but with humor when needed). From body snatching to studying the rate of decomposition to organ donation, this covered everything that I can think of. I remember in college having the opportunity to dissect (well, the phy...
Disclaimer: This review is highly male oriented this book has everything sex in every form... every cringe worthy, OMG, terrified, and enlightening aspect of such a wonderful experience (uuuuu....sually....) (fertility statue) from what makes people tick sexually (hormones, position...
