Thrall is a very hard one for me to review. I'd never read any of Mary SanGiovanni's stuff before, but the premise seemed interesting, she's the girlfriend of Brian Keene, who's writing I love, and a few of my friends seemed to like this one. So, I downloaded it with modest hopes for an entertaining...

A fast, fun horror novel that offers an fresh spin on the boogeyman mythos, transforming the closet lurker of childhood into an active predator of adults, bringing forth their hidden fears to feed upon. Character development could have used a bit more fleshing out, but otherwise a solid first novel.

I really enjoyed this little novella. It tells the story of Charlie and her baby Haley being taken hostage by Simone who has plans to take Haley for herself and dispose of Charlie. This was extremely well written, the pacing was consistent and for such a short novella it gave enough back story for ch...

Interesting novella from Darkfuse by a popular writer who has recently joined the cast of regulars on their team of talented authors. I did not like this novella as much as others from Darkfuse that I have read recently. The Fading Place is a “situational” type of story---a regular person finds ...

The Fading Place is a very quick little read and my second Mary SanGiovanni. Unfortunatley, there was not a lot going on for me in this one. It was written well, but nothing that really jumped out and it was fairly predictable. (I must admit that I was a bit bummed that this one was a straight thril...

This was a fun read, not an outstanding read, and certainly a happening that was more suited to "novella" than story. Charlie and her baby Hayley have been car kidnapped by the somewhat deranged Simone. So we travel with them on a short journey and nervously await what outcome Simone has in store fo...

I enjoyed this book. It even mentions my old high school in one of the stories. Awesome!

Thrall by Mary SanGiovanni is a very good and original monster romp with plenty of interesting characters and back-story. There are things in the Raw that want to rip and tear…to mutilate and devour. The town itself is alive and being protected by monsters. Each of them holds a different key to keep...
