Overall, a fairly forgettable book. The characters were unsympathetic and not very likable - I thought Ivo as the male lead was a pretty weak character, and I just didn't care about any of the obstacles that Cora was facing (trying to fit it with English life--seating charts, redecorating, entertain...
As somebody who doesn't read a lot, or really any, period fiction I wasn't expecting to like this much as book as I did. It was really a wonderful read, and written in a way that made it a very easy read as opposed to the heavy going, typical period stuff I was expecting. It's a brilliant novel to l...
Entirely decent historical fiction. Wealthy, spoiled, naive heiress falls in love, nasty conniving mother and mother-in-law are nasty. Dinners, corsets, opulence. Great fun. Can't help rooting for Cora the heiress, despite her being unplugged from any commonplace reality.

I am enjoying this story for the most part, but can't believe how easily distracted I am with it. I am finding myself working on other books instead of reading what I am supposed to be reading.

The American Heiress is Cora Cash, pampered daughter of the oh-so...

What Cora lacks is love, life purpose and freedom--her ever-present, controlling mother has a master plan for her life that involve...
