Pratchett is nearly believed to be an author god in my circle of friends. I often fail to understand British humor, so I have put his books on the back burner for some time now (longer than Harry Potter). I lent this book to my sister when she was looking for a nice novel. After she was done with...

I have to admit, I sniffled a bit towards the end. This book is probably more of a three-and-a-half than a four star book, but I bumped it up because it certainly isn't a three. I loved Mau and Ermintrude/Daphne and large parts of the story. I just felt the plot seemed to skip some vital explanation...

I'm not sure why it took me so long to get around to reading this gem, but I'm glad I finally did. An inventive, witty, and thoughtful story that touches upon many sophisticated themes like faith, community, identity, and what constitutes a "civilized" society.

For those who may have been a bit disappointed by Robinson Crusoe, Pratchett’s novel would certainly makeup for it. This is truly a beautiful book. Through the split narrative format (Mau and Daphne) Pratchett allows his readers the opportunity to explore so many ideas, perceptions and varying viewp...

Wounderful. Simply wounderful. It is not a typical Pratchett-novel, you could even argue that it's not really a fantasy-novel, but that doesn't make it less good than his Discworld-books. It is still funny...and sad, usually in the same paragraph (hell, there is a whole passage where each sentence m...

I love him and love the discworld books but I have to say this may be one of my all time favorite books by him and that's saying alot!! The s...

What a surprise coming from Pratchett. I'm used to the absurdity of his discworld books and this was nothing like those. The sillyness of those is missing in this book, but it's still a delightful read. A lovely story that examines some heavy issues (the existance of God and/or the role He plays in ...
