In an old city neighborhood, the regulars slump forward on bar stools, chatting and drinking beer, hustling pool and darts before the place closes. But this hood is changing, becoming gentrified, as past generations bleed into the new. And with such gradually shifting marks of wealth and class, this local establishment has entered a crossroads.
Two crooks from the old neighborhood sit in this bar with the locals. They’re fixing for a new score, desiring a fresh mark from somewhere in the crowds of pock-marked faces. One man, Jimmy, is an ex-boxer and a manipulator. He wanted to get out, to find his fortune, but after all the years he’s back for another shitty take. And his friend Tom – who may not be his friend after all – is a sexual deviant with the means to help him, or con him, using his own power-lust.
They spot their victims in two out-of-place patrons, Amanda and Eric. Recently in their thirties, they’ve got their heads set on the paths that education and work had grooved in for them. Amanda wants to be a primatologist while Eric already works as a lawyer. Both are disillusioned with their lives, alienated from each other and from themselves, afraid of where their goals will take them in an unknown future. The only mindset they feel secure with is in their nostalgic past. And to make their fear of living more ominous, they’ve been marked by the old eyes of two hustlers. What will happen when these people meet? Will there be a glint of recognition among strangers or a new violence for each of their lives?
