None of us wants to die, but all of us will. What do you do when it is your time, or the time for someone you love?
There are people in this world whose mission in life is to help answer those questions. Every day they work with people who are going through the most frightening times of their lives. Their mission is to listen, to help, to stay.
Join this journey as the curtain is pulled back to reveal the emotions, challenges and victories experienced by hospice patients and those who care for them.
When life falls apart, when the diagnosis is tragic, when there is no solution to be found - where do you turn? In these instances it all too common for those who have been there to leave. People you assumed would be there for you are not, and it is very disappointing.
That is where hospice comes in. When others walk away, we walk in. When others shake their heads and say "how sad," we shake you hand and say "how can we help?" And our pledge is to stay with you to the end. No matter how long, no matter how hard, no matter how confusing - you will not be left alone. That is a promise.
In addition to that, as Shakespeare's famous line in Hamlet says, "There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Those who are pledged to this work are privy to some of the most stressful but at the same time some of the most amazing moments of human existence. At times there is an explanation, at others there is not.
