Top 100 Non-Fiction Books!
Why do we really like nonfiction?
Adventures?
Mystery?
Suspense?
Or the fact that it all actually happened?
It is almost impossible to classify and quantify the elasticity and depth of our imagination. What is certain, however, is that we constantly strive for inspiration and entertainment on a variety of levels. Sitting on a bus is always more interesting if you're surrounded by potential spies or assassins. Walking to the library is a lot more exciting if you think that your long-lost love or future soul mate might be looking for the same book you are at this very moment.
Life becomes more interesting when it is nuanced by our creativity and there are no limits to this. So where does one go for inspiration? We turn to books, films, and television for the most part. What is interesting about books, separating them from all other forms of media, is the very intimate connection you make with a book and its characters.
When you watch a film or television show you are seeing actors portraying characters, which have been cast — a long and mostly political process — playing the roles of characters that typically were born in the pages of novels or folk lore. You are seeing a small committee of people portraying characters that were chosen by a small bureaucratic committee of people. This is too far removed from the source to have the feel that the original authors wanted you to experience.
A book is much different. You form a close connection and bond with the characters you read about in your mind creates the most perfect embodiment of that character based on your history, past experiences, and imagination. A film or television series will never be as good as the book that you've read for the simple fact that your mind merges with the words as they come off the page, being interpreted exactly in the best way for your brain to configure.
