I'm not a fan of Neil Gaiman, but a coworker recommended this one and I needed something like it to complete my summer reading bingo card. Sometimes it seems like Gaiman is going for a myth-y, grand stately feeling with his writing. Other times the writing is very casual. In the long run I didn't ...

Prior to reading this, my experience with Gaiman’s work was limited to Good Omens, Stardust, and The Graveyard Book, so I had no idea what to expect when it came to his take on Norse mythology. It turns out his take is pretty straightforward myth retelling with some of his humor thrown in here and t...

I have no comparison to make with any other re-telling or the source material, so, taking this at face-value: This is an entertaining set of tales about the creation of the world and its eventual destruction and some things that happen in between. The best of the tales are the comedic ones where L...

Greek mythology is a rewritten of old stories about Odin, Thor and Loki. It is entertainment enough as some of the stories seems new. It is old and from myths of the old days. Neil Gaiman is a good storyteller. The only complaint is the stories are a bit disjoined. Still very readable. Thor di...

This was a good overview of the Norse myths, written in a simple manner, but I found the style got a bit tedious after a while. Or maybe I'm just not that into myths.

I've never yet been let down by Neil Gaiman and Norse Mythology certainly didn't break that winning streak. In this nonfiction book Gaiman covers a wide range of Norse myths and in the process destroys what Marvel had implanted in the minds (my mind at least) of what Asgard looked like and who inhab...

I...FREAKING. LOVED. this book! That ending...I...I...just Wow! I borrowed this from the library on Audio and had to wait for 75 other people to listen to it, so 3ish months, but it was SO worth it! I wanted to read more of Gaiman's' work, since I have only ever read one of this other books, Neverwh...

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman is a somewhat bland modern re-rewording of the shenanigans of the Norse Gods and Goddesses, the creation, and end of the World, that can be found in the Poetic and Prose Eddas. If you don't know much about the Norse Gods and Goddesses, this is a decent, easy to read i...

It was gloriously awesome. How much of the merit goes to Gaiman and how much always belonged to the myth compendium has little bearing in my enjoyment. The stories are tall tales indeed: huge, fun, magical, gruesome. The characters are as great as flawed: Odin lies, cheats, seduces and steals; Thor ...
