Very sweet book showing a snapshot of life in Denmark during World War 2. I am KICKING myself for not reading this sooner!I LOVED THIS BOOK! I am prone to liking anything that has to deal with the Holocaust and WWII, but this was such an enchanting and enriching tale by Lois Lowry that I am so upset with myself for waiting so long to be captivated by it!Such a great book!...

A book that should be required reading if it isn't already. Sad but important.

I am amazed at how many incredibly traumatic books are given to young children. To this day scenes from this book haunt me.

A good introduction to the Holocaust. Would pair well with Anne Frank's diary. Lois Lowry is a master at deceptively simple prose that packs an emotional wallop.

A strong book for a young reader, but probably not so much for an older one.
