Those first stories I read at the beginning is just not my type.
There are twenty stories in this collection. I rated each story individually, added up the ratings for all the stories, divided by twenty, and got 2.92. So three stars it is for the lot. "The Palace Thief" by Ethan Canin is the only five-star story in the collection. There is more depth and gravitas...
