The Brevis Libri Physicorum is one of four works on natural philosophy written by William of Ockham (14th century). As the title indicates, it is a short treatise. This compendium on Aristotle's physics is presented here in a quite readable English translation. Apart from this contribution, the translator has devised an indicator system to aid a reader in following the very involved argumentation, but also to aid the reader in distinguishing the more basic positions of Aristotle from Ockham's own forceful interpretations.Fr.. Julian Davies has done a good job in translating the Brevis Summa. In rendering the text in simple and clear English, and staying rather close to the technical vocabulary of the author, he has, we hope, made an important contribution to Ockham studies among readers of the vernacular.
